8 Things To Consider Before Getting Lash Extensions

Lashes by Tampa Lash and Brow

Lash extensions are becoming one of the most popular beauty trends of the 21st century. Because who doesn't want to wake up with perfect lashes? #iwokeuplikethis

While lash extensions used to be something only models and celebrities had, nowadays it seems like almost everyone has them. If you're thinking about joining the lash extension bandwagon, here are some things you might want to consider:

You might have to change your skin care routine

Lash extensions are not oil resistant, meaning using oil-based products in your skin care routine can mess up your retention, causing them to fall out much sooner than usual.

You can't rub your eyes

If you have allergies or itchy eyes and hay fever, eye rubbing is probably second nature to you. With lash extensions, you can't really rub your eyes without rubbing your extensions off as well. An easy solution to this problem is to use over-the-counter allergy eye drops. We recommend Opcon by Bausch and Lomb. You can purchase these at any almost drugstore or directly on Amazon.

They can last up to 4 weeks

Not having to wear any makeup for 4 weeks sounds like a dream doesn't it? But keep in mind that your lash extensions will shed overtime. So make sure to book your lash fills every 2 to 3 weeks to keep them looking full and fluffy!

Lash extensions are waterproof

With lash extensions you can jump into the pool or swim in the ocean without the risk of makeup running down your face as you dry yourself. They are 100% waterproof, meaning they are perfect for getting before vacations or trips where you want to do water activities. Or even just so you can look great in your vacation pictures without wearing any makeup.

They can change the shape or enhance your eyes

The right set of lash extensions can really bring out your eyes. For those with small or hooded eyes, a doll eye look can enlarge your eyes making them appear bigger and more alert. For those with almond eyes or short eyes, a cat eye look can elongate your eyes, making them appear wider and more sleek.

You can still wear makeup

For the makeup lovers out there, you can still wear makeup with your lash extensions to enhance your eyes even further. Just make sure you are removing them at the end of the day with a makeup removing lash cleanser instead of makeup wipes. Makeup wipes and q-tips can damage your lashes so be sure not to use them when you have extensions.

You can't sleep on your face

Sleeping on your face is one of the things you will not be able to do after you get lash extensions. Face sleeping can cause the lashes to fall out much quicker. One solution to this problem is to get a contoured sleep mask for lashes.

You might get addicted

Now this can be a good or bad thing depending on your budget, but usually after getting lashes it's easy to become addicted. They look so much better than mascara or strip lashes because they're custom tailored to your face. You save time in the mornings and you look great 100% of the time you have them on. The only downside is that you might not be able to live without them anymore.
